Why I'm Considering Running

I am considering the opportunity to run as a school trustee candidate because I believe strong public schools are essential to a healthy and connected community. The decisions made by a school board have a direct impact on students, classrooms, families, and staff, and I believe those decisions should remain practical, transparent, and focused on supporting student success.

I hope to have the opportunity to be considered to contribute a thoughtful and balanced perspective to school board governance at a time when schools are facing increasing pressures and complex challenges. In my view, effective trusteeship requires listening carefully, understanding the real-world impacts of decisions, and staying focused on what best supports students and learning environments.

I believe strong classrooms should remain at the centre of decision-making. Teachers and support staff need the resources and conditions necessary to help students succeed, and families should feel informed and included in how decisions are made.

I also believe school districts should think carefully about long-term sustainability and responsible planning. My background in environmental and public-sector work has reinforced the importance of balancing immediate needs with long-term impacts, and I believe that perspective is valuable in education governance as well.
