I am running for School Trustee in the Greater Victoria School District (SD61), representing Electoral Area 5, which covers the City of Victoria. I am running because I believe in strong public schools, safe and inclusive learning environments and responsible decision-making, which supports students, families, educators and support staff.

Victoria has been home for myself and my family for 14 years. My wife is a teacher, and our two children love their time at school.

Over the past number of months, I have been listening to residents across Victoria about what is working well in our schools, where families and staff need more support, and how the Greater Victoria School District can continue to build trust with the community. I would be grateful to hear from more people in Victoria — your ideas, concerns, feedback, and lived experiences all matter.

As a School Trustee for Greater Victoria, I would bring professional and personal experience to support SD61.

My priorities include:

  • Student success, safety and belonging in our schools
  • Protecting student opportunities and supporting every learner
  • Supporting teachers, EAs and staff at schools
  • Communication and engagement with the community
  • Responsible and transparent use of public resources, including before and after-school care

I believe it is essential that School Trustees' decisions lead to measurable improvements to our schools, which keep students and staff at the centre. This starts with listening and focusing on what students, families, educators, school staff and communities need from their schools.

Throughout my career I have been a director in the BC public service, an active PAC member in SD61, former employee of a school board, an environmental engineer in the private sector and a political advocate volunteer in the non-profit sector with Engineers Without Borders.
